Zudugarai

On the coast of Gipuzkoa, Spain, in the Basque country, Zudugarai began in the mid 1980's as the family re-discovered the potential of their vineyards. As the Denominación de Origen began in 1989, they began to work to improve.  Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza are grown very near the ocean, with one site (Gaztetape) on the shore. Only 37 acres located in the Pagaoeta Natural Park. Owned and operated by the three Errasti brothers, with the main guy Mikel Errasti.

The vineyards are located near the village of Aia in the Getariako Txakolina appellaion. The orignal Txakolina.

Txakoli Zudugarai is a family winery, where the effort and dedication of three generations linked to safeguarding the native and traditional character of Txakoli de Getariako converge. Zudugarai directly controls all the elaboration processes, both in the vineyard when selecting the grapes, and in the winery, when incorporating the most modern technologies to the traditional way of elaborating its Txakolis, thus combining the traditional and the modern, in order to obtain a wine with its own characteristics.
