Cairats

In 2010, Ramon Masip and his Family found what they seeked-old vines of native varietals in D.O. Montsant. All from a winery built in 1900. From the recovery of old vines and practices that seek the balance of the vine and the environment. Along with the Mantra of  ”Quality over Quantity” that is lived daily. Certified organic. Two estates totaling 12.3 acres of 40-60 year old vines.

All vineyards are certified organic farming. They incorporate the most advanced technologies for winemaking in the cellar for wine to express the personality of the territory and indigenous varieties.

It is a family project where They wanted to recover a way of life, which was that of their grandparents, with a vision that combines tradition with technology and international projection.

They have tried to escape from market standards and changing fashions and have focused on a long-term vision of recovering the essence of a territory with a thousand-year-old wine tradition. They have opted for wines with careful vinification, authentic and honest wines, made in an artisanal way, ... Wines with Soul.

The vineyards are structured in small plots with clay calcareous soils, on terraces with dry stone walls.

Our wines are estate wines. The grapes come from two estates.  One is located in Darmós (Les Vinyetes) and the other in Els Guiamets (Pins Vens). The dominant varieties are Carignan, red Grenache, and white Grenache, with a complement of Tempranillo. We also have two very small plots with Merlot (550 vines) and Vognier (1000 vines).

They are aging their wines in French oak barrels and terracotta amphorae.
