Carodorum
Toro
The Diez-Rodriguez family has been growing grapes in the heart of Toro region for generations. In 2004 Bodegas Carodorum was founded from the family’s vineyards and passion for wine in the prestigious “Pago La Cascajera”. Brothers Guillermo and Luis Angel run the vineyards and winemaking, with small scale production advantages and modern technology with the Tempranillo clone, Tinta de Toro. Guillermo is the winemaker at Carodorum, and had his first vintage in 2003.
The vines of Carodorum were inherited from Guillermo and Luis Angel's mother, Carmen. Along with the vines, they were taught by their mother the tradition of Toro wines, and the tradition of their family plots.
Carodorum is an artisanal winery located five miles outside of the town of Toro. The centuries-old vineyards, unmoved by time, have been silent witnesses to the rich history kept by the faithful and noble Toro, the city of kings and royalty.
The artisanal craft and the limited production allow the brothers to devote all their energy and attention to achieving the final product’s unsurpassable quality. They have found a way to balance preserving the art and tradition of winemaking (the use of clay jars, wood vats and oak barrels) while at the same time incorporating 21st Century equipment (stainless steel tanks, and the leading grape processing technology) to produce wines that are rarely seen in Spain. The Carodorum wines are largely only exported outside of Spain, and are truly memorable.
